Baked Goods Donations for the Festival

It's Festival time and baked goods are needed for the Bake Sale Tent! This is a great way to get the entire family involved in supporting the RCVFD. PIES are the top best seller, but cookies, brownies and breads are popular too. Whatever you love to bake we would love to sell! However, items that do not require refrigeration are best for the sale. Please package items in sellable amounts (i.e., 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen cookies). Please attach a label for high allergen ingredients such as nuts or dairy; also gluten free or sugar free. I will be at the tent by 7:00 AM on the day of the festival so you can drop off your items anytime that day. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call us. THANK YOU!

44H Road Closure

Due to damage from last night's flooding, be advised that Buckhorn Road (44H) is closed at approximately mile marker 25. Larimer County Road & Bridge has established enough of a base to allow emergency services vehicles to respond if needed, but the road remains closed to residents and the general public. Access to the Upper Buckhorn including Crystal Mountain remains via Pingree Park / Pennock Pass at this time. Keep an eye on the Larimer County website for updates on when the road closure can be lifted.

If in doubt, call the Sheriff's Office at (970) 980-2501.

Ongoing Telephone Outage

Hi again folks -

Thanks to my Community Alert yesterday I have learned that this landline phone problem is not unique to my house but extends over the following area:
  • Stove Prairie Road from at least 2000 to 6000
  • Rist Canyon Road from the east side of Ford Hill to Stove Prairie School
  • Old Camp Road
  • Old Flowers Road

Unfortunately I have no magic powers to get us all working phones again, but I have been working with Larimer County Emergency Services and they advised that we all need to resubmit repair tickets to Century Link because they are not showing our area as having an outage. I know we all have done this multiple times and are frustrated with their system [they have stood me up for 2 repair appointments!]; however, apparently we need to flood them with tickets so they will acknowledge that this is a bigger problem.

Wish I had better news and trust me I feel your pain.

Landline Phone Issues

Hello Neighbors -

I am trying to find out if others are having problems with their landline phone. I have a broken phone and recently learned that there are others near me that are having the same problem. Century Link (aka Lumen) has been slow to respond and I am concerned that if this is a widespread problem, we will have problems utilizing Reverse 911 if needed. They do not seem to understand that for many of us landlines are the only communication tool we have.

My landline has a dial tone so you can call out, but does not ring so you cannot receive calls. At the other end, callers just get continuous ringing (no answering machine, nothing...).

If your landline phone is exhibiting this problem, please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Larimer County Fire Restrictions

LARIMER COUNTY FIRE RESTRICTIONS

On recommendation by the Larimer County Sheriff, the Board of Larimer County Commissioners yesterday voted 3-0 to adopt fire restrictions in unincorporated Larimer County since the danger of wildfire, forest and grass fires are great due to above-normal temperatures, lightning strikes and windy, dry conditions.

As of noon, June 29, 2022, restrictions on open fires for the unincorporated portions of Larimer County go into effect. These restrictions stay in effect until noon, July 29, 2022. Also in effect are restrictions on the use of fireworks, combustible devices, public firework displays and incendiary devices. This is not a fire ban.

Restricted starting today:
  • Open fires, including camp or cooking fires
  • Smoking in the open is not allowed, including on trails, parks, and open spaces.
  • Fireworks or firework displays.
  • Incendiary devices including sky lanterns, exploding ammunition, exploding targets, and tracer ammunition.
  • Welding

Not Restricted:
  • Contained open fires in permanently constructed stationary masonry or metal fireplaces specifically designed for the purpose of combustion.
  • Gas or Liquid Fueled Fires fueled by bottled gas or pressurized liquid shall include but are not limited to portable heaters, cooking stoves, heating stoves, hiking/camping stoves, grills, fire pits, fireplaces, etc.
  • The use of an internal or external combustion engine with a spark arresting device properly installed, maintained, and in effective working order and meeting published standards.
  • Fireplaces or wood stoves located inside permanent structures.
  • Fires in commercially operated wood and/or charcoal-fired grills designed for cooking.
  • Charcoal-fired grills when used at a private residence and location on a non-combustible surface of at least ten feet in diameter.
  • Welding and other torch work within an enclosed building.
  • Outdoor welding and other torch work provided that:
    • The area where the welding or other torch work is to be performed is free of vegetation for at least thirty feet in all directions.
    • Wind speed is less than 10 mph.
    • There is sufficient fire suppressant immediately available to suppress any fire that may be started.
  • Fires in air curtain burners.
  • Public firework display approved by the appropriate Fire Department or Fire District.

The Sheriff may give limited exemptions from these restrictions based on his pre-approval and inspection.

Any person who knowingly violates the restrictions can be fined. The Ordinance for the Regulation of Open Burning in Unincorporated Larimer County can be found by clicking here (PDF). The full text of the Larimer County notice can be read here.
