Did you know you can support RCVFD when you shop on Amazon? Go to Amazon Smile and enter Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department as your non profit of choice and then shop away! It doesn't cost you anything extra, and 0.5 percent of your purchases go to the fire department. Amazon Smile has already donated over $37 million to charities using this program, so it really does work.

If you have any questions about this program, or need help setting it up, drop me an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I'll be happy to give you a hand.

Festival Organizational Meeting

We are already less than 10 months away from the 2017 Rist Canyon Mountain Festival and Fine Art Auction. We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30PM at Firehouse 1, 11835 Rist Canyon Rd, beginning November 14th. We are looking for ideas on how to improve our attendance and profits.

In particular, we need chairs for the Book sale (this is easier than it sounds as it's very well organized and entails communicating with those on the book committee) and for Social Media/Public Relations as we need to do a much better job promoting our festival to the public. I foresee this position working with the CSU Marketing Department.

So, bring your thoughts and ideas and let's make the 2017 Festival our best one yet!

Annual Meeting November 5 at 6:00PM

The Annual Meeting and Election will be held Saturday, November 5 at 6 PM at the Stove Prairie School. All area residents are encouraged to attend to make new friends, to connect with friends you rarely see, for community fellowship, to hear Fire Department news, and to participate in the elections for the Board of Directors.

Please bring a dish to share: main dish, salad, bread or dessert. Drinks and tableware will be provided.

See you there!
Howdy

Just a quick heads-up that RCVFD will be doing scenario-based training at the pull-off near Stratton Park this evening. We are going to set up a fake multi-car accident. There will be numerous responders and community members at the training. Thanks in advance for your consideration and patience if you drive by us tonight.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 970-215-6524.

I am posting this pic so that the owner will know where this wandering fellow is. He seems like a happy fellow.

Festival Times, Facebook Page, and Bake Sale

Unless you haven't been reading your email, you already know that our annual Mountain Festival is this weekend. Here are some specific dates and times.

Saturday anytime: come help your neighbors set up the festival grounds. Folks start showing up at 8am and work usually finishes around 4pm, so come for any amount of time you can spare.

Sunday September 4
The Festival opens to the public at 10am.
The Live Art Auction starts at 1pm.
The Festival and Art Auction conclude at 4pm.
If you have RSVPed for the community dinner (you have, right? it's free), that gets underway at 5pm.

Monday morning: what was set up must be torn down. Didn't get a chance to pitch in on Saturday? Come Monday and help us return the meadow to just how we found it.

More Mountain Festival and Fine Art Auction info is available on our Facebook Page

Also, just another reminder that we need lots of your baked goodies to sell at the festival. This is a wonderful way to contribute to our firefighters who do so much for all of us who live in the area. PIES are the most requested item and the biggest seller. Brownies, cookies, bars, breads, cupcakes etc. all sell very well too. It is helpful if items are packaged ready to sell and ingredients listed if item contains nuts. Please introduce yourselves as you drop off your goodies. We are always thrilled to meet our neighbors. We will be at the bake sale tent by 7:30 am. Call Lisa Diedrich at 970-471-8426 if you have any questions. Thanks!

Volunteers needed, and last chance to RSVP

Hi fellow Rist Canyon, Buckhorn, Stove Prairie Friends,
The festival is just a couple of days away, and once again we are asking for a few more volunteers on Friday and Sunday in the following areas:

In the art tent we have some fabulous art again, but we need set up help. Friday morning at 9 am we are setting up the T Posts to hang the art on.

We need 2-3 more strong men to put the posts in the ground and place the wire on the posts. Need you from 9 am, for only 1.5-2 hours. Yummy sandwiches provided after. So I need to know Thursday latest so I can order the sandwiches.

On Sunday from 1-4 we need 2 young ladies or men to show off this lovely art. All you need to do is hold the art and pretend you are Vanna White. We have lots of fun.

Please call me ASAP. Louise 970.217.6843

Also, if you haven't RSVPed for the FREE Community Dinner after the Festival on Sunday, September 4, do so right away! Sackits Hot Shot Catering has set Thursday, September 1st, as the last day to RSVP for their head count. RSVP to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or if you know someone without internet, have them call Tim at 482-2509. Thank you and we'll see everyone at 5pm on the festival grounds Sunday.

Here is your chance to BE Smokey Bear! Teach a kid how to rope a steer! Like rock climbing? The mountain festival committee is looking for some volunteers this Sunday to work shifts at 3 stations. You could wear the Smokey Bear costume, keep the kids in line at the steer roping station, or help kids into their climbing harness at the rock wall. If you have not figured out a way to contribute to the festival, please consider donating an hour. No experience necessary! Please don't think "somebody else will do it." They might not. We need YOU to step up. Invite your friend to do the shift with you!

Please contact Vicky Jordan at 970-482-8743 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you can help out on Sunday, September 4 between 10:00-4:00.

Thanks for supporting RCVFD!
