As the Grants Chair at RCVFD, I'm dedicated to keeping you informed about valuable grant opportunities.

The Colorado Department of Fire Protection and Control (DFPC) is sponsoring an essential grant opportunity aimed at helping homeowners protect their properties from wildfire risks. Established by the Colorado Legislature in 2023, the "Colorado Wildfire Resilient Homes Grant 2024" (CWRH) offers small grants to aid homeowners in fortifying their residences against potential wildfire ignition.

The application period for this grant program runs from March 4th to April 15th. Eligible projects include roof replacement, upgrading vinyl gutters to aluminum, installing leaf guards, meshing attic/soft vents, replacing combustible siding and fencing, upgrading single-pane windows to double or triple-pane, and more!

To qualify, simply sign up for a FREE Home Ignition Zone Assessment (HIZ) offered by our Wildfire Partners Program at the Larimer County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services. Raina Eshleman, the program coordinator, can be contacted at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to schedule your assessment. Once completed, attach the HIZ survey along with your one-page grant application. It's that simple!

For further details and to access the grant application, visit the DFPC website.
Although the CWRH grant recurs annually, it's crucial not to overlook the opportunity to register for a complimentary Home Ignition Zone Assessment (HIZ). Even if you miss this year's grant deadline, securing an HIZ is a valuable resource to have at your disposal.
